Our Community

Founded to serve Ugandans and East Africans in BC, our growing community carries the vibrant spirit, traditions, and resilience of Uganda in a movement that honours our heritage while uplifting future generations.

We began with a simple idea; to create spaces where culture is celebrated, connections are built, and barriers are broken. We are growing into a hub for cultural expression, youth empowerment, and social change. Our belief is that when we come together, we create a stronger, more inclusive BC for all.

Message from Our President

Dear Friends our journey continues—together,

As we build this vibrant community here in BC, we are proud to present new platforms that will strengthen our connections and empower us all. This website is more than a tool—it’s a meeting place for sharing events, resources, and opportunities tailored for our members. It keeps us updated on local gatherings, cultural celebrations, and networking moments that bring us closer as a family.

I’m especially excited about the African Cooperative Market, a dynamic collaboration with the Ugandan Cooperative Company. This initiative celebrates the creativity and hard work of African artisans and farmers, supporting economic empowerment and preserving our cultural heritage. By participating, we uplift local communities while keeping traditional crafts and practices alive.

Our hope as BC Ugandan Social Society is to stands for community, culture, and connection. Together, we can continue to create spaces where every Ugandan in BC feels seen, supported, and inspired to thrive.

Thank you for being a vital part of our journey!

– Simon Lujja, President
