A Summer of Culture, Creativity & Connection
The Kisakate Summer Cultural Day Camp Program is a joyful 3-week cultural learning experience presented by The Bavubuka Foundation and Uganda Social Society in BC.
Designed for children ages 5–13, Kisakate invites young people to explore African and Ugandan culture through drumming, dance, storytelling, games, art, leadership, identity-building, and friendship. This summer program creates a welcoming space where children can build confidence, celebrate who they are, learn from cultural traditions, and experience the power of community.

Days: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
Time: 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Total Sessions: 9 sessions over 3 weeks
Fee: $300

What Children Will Experience
At Kisakate Summer Cultural Day Camp, children will take part in hands-on activities that encourage creativity, confidence, cultural pride, and belonging.
Camp activities include:

African Drumming & Rhythm Circles
Children will explore rhythm, teamwork, listening, focus, and joyful self-expression through interactive drumming sessions.

Storytelling & Oral Traditions
Campers will learn through stories that share values of courage, respect, identity, community, and leadership.

Dance & Movement
Children will participate in age-appropriate dance and movement activities that celebrate African cultural expression and build confidence.

Arts & Creative Activities
Campers will create visual art, crafts, and cultural projects connected to identity, heritage, imagination, and community.

Games, Team Challenges & Outdoor Fun
Each session includes play-based activities that help children build friendships, cooperation, leadership, and joy.

Children will explore who they are, where they come from, and how culture helps them feel rooted, proud, and connected.

Kisakate Summer Cultural Day Camp is especially meaningful for children and families who want cultural learning to be joyful, interactive, and community-rooted.
Who Can Attend?
Kisakate Summer Cultural Day Camp is open to children ages 5–13.
Children from all cultural backgrounds are welcome. No previous experience with drumming, dance, or cultural programming is required — just curiosity, respect, and a willingness to participate.
Sibling Discount
Families registering more than one child are encouraged to list all siblings attending Kisakate Summer Cultural Day Camp during registration.
A 15% sibling discount will be applied to each additional sibling after the first registered child. Please complete one registration form per camper.
Registration
Registration is now open for the Kisakate Summer Cultural Day Camp Program.
Families are asked to complete the camper intake form with parent/guardian contact information, emergency contacts, health information, authorized pickup details, and payment preference.

Please do not bring valuables, electronics, or unnecessary personal items to camp.
Safety & Supervision
The safety and wellbeing of every child is important to us. Parents and guardians will be asked to provide medical information, emergency contacts, authorized pickup details, and any support needs during registration. Children will only be released to authorized pickup persons listed on the registration form unless written permission is provided by the parent or guardian.
